Tech Rage IT’s Matt Rose Shares Children’s Online Safety Guidance on Good Day Orlando

Longwood, Fla., (September 11, 2026) -Matt Rose, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Tech Rage IT, joined FOX 35 Orlando's Good Day Orlando on August 26, 2026, to discuss practical steps parents can take to help protect children online.

Speaking with anchor John Brown, Rose explained that online safety requires several layers, including ongoing conversations with children, controls on their phones and tablets, and supervision tools within the apps and games they use.

The interview followed the station's reporting on an alleged stalking case involving a Volusia County teenager, bringing attention to the potential real-world consequences of online interactions.

Rose identified Apple's built-in parental controls and Google Family Link as starting points for families. Depending on the device and configuration, these tools can help parents manage app downloads, review usage and set limits. Apple's parental controls and Google Family Link's app management tools provide options families can configure around their children's needs.

"Those allow you to do things like approving what apps they're using, seeing the screen time. You can even limit when they're using it," Rose said.

He also encouraged parents to investigate the controls available within each social media platform or game their children use. Those capabilities vary, making it important to understand what each tool actually shows. For example, Snapchat's Family Center provides visibility into who a teen has communicated with while keeping the contents of those conversations private. Drawing on his experience as a parent, Rose described requiring approval before his children install new apps, reviewing ratings and purchase features, and researching unfamiliar platforms. He also discussed setting boundaries around his older son's phone communications and explaining the reason for that involvement.

"And I tell him it's not that I don't trust him, I don't trust the world," Rose said.

Throughout the conversation, Rose emphasized the importance of staying involved as children's habits and technology change. Reviewing settings and talking regularly about online activity should remain ongoing parts of family life.
